Danish offshore wind developer Ørsted A/S and Louisiana-based shipbuilder Edison Chouest Offshore christened the first American-built offshore wind service operations vessel (SOV) at the Port of New Orleans. The ECO EDISON, a US-flagged offshore wind SOV, will support operations and maintenance for Ørsted and Eversource Energy's wind projects. Ørsted's investment in the vessel aims to build a domestic offshore energy supply chain. The SOV, built by ECO, will be powered by engines from Caterpillar Marine and serve as a homebase for offshore wind turbine technicians.
