State-owned energy company Stanwell has started construction on a 300MW/1,200MWh battery energy storage system at the coal-fired Stanwell Power Station in Queensland. The project will cost around AU$747 million and include 324 lithium-ion Tesla Megapack 2XL units, supported by partnerships with Tesla and Yurika. Construction is a part of the government's plan to transition the site to clean energy resources, with the goal of creating the Stanwell Clean Energy Hub.
