Energy Vault and Carbosulcis plan to develop a 100 MW hybrid gravity energy storage system in an underground coal mine in Sardinia, Italy. Energy Vault's EV0 gravity technology will be used alongside battery energy storage. The project aims to convert the coal mine into a technology hub and industrial center by 2026.
