Longi, a Chinese module maker, achieved a world record-breaking power conversion efficiency of 26.81% for a solar cell based on heterojunction technology. The result was confirmed by Germany’s Institute for Solar Energy Research Hamelin. The cell configuration included various layers such as nanocrystalline silicon, crystalline silicon, and passivating contacts. The implementation of p-nc-Si:H and modified TCO resulted in a significant reduction in contact resistivity and total series resistance, leading to an efficiency increase.
