ABO Energy wins approval for NI batteries

ABO Energy has secured planning approval for two major battery energy storage schemes in Northern Ireland, totaling 335MW/670MWh. These projects are expected to enhance the flexibility of the transmission grid to facilitate greater levels of renewable electricity consumption. The schemes aim to assist Northern Ireland in meeting its renewable electricity target by 2030. Patricia McGrath, head of project development in Northern Ireland, emphasized the importance of modern infrastructure to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. The projects will contribute significantly to the local economy and support Northern Ireland's energy transition.
