Agrivoltaics for raspberries

BayWa and Groenleven plan to build a pilot agrivoltaics plant in Noord-Brabant, Netherlands in 2020, combining solar electricity production with fruit cultivation. The project aims to address challenges in Europe such as land scarcity and extreme weather. The farm owner decided to equip his raspberry plantation with solar panels due to positive experiences with agrivoltaics. BayWa believes agrivoltaics can protect crops, create a resilient growing environment, reduce plastic usage, and harmonize solar energy expansion with agriculture. However, agrivoltaic projects are costly and require legislative and financial backing.
