Algorithms to detect underperforming rooftop PV panels

Researchers from UNSW and UTS in Australia have developed advanced algorithms to diagnose common solar panel performance issues, which could lead to significant cost savings and efficiency improvements in the energy sector. The algorithms, capable of analyzing data from inverters and power points, can identify issues like wiring faults, degradation, and shading, enhancing early intervention and reliability of PV systems. Integrated into a commercial platform by Global Sustainable Energy Solutions, the technology now monitors over 100 MW of solar power.
