Researchers at Loughborough University in the United Kingdom conducted a review of antireflecting coating technologies for glass used in solar modules, categorizing them into single-layer and multilayer coatings. Single layers are noted as the industry standard with limitations in long wavelength ranges and durability issues. Multilayer coatings are presented as overcoming these limitations. The coatings' durability was found to be under 8 years despite a 25-year warranty for PV modules. Future research should focus on improving durability and anti-soiling techniques for AR coatings on PV modules.
