Amea Power has commissioned the Zina solar plant in Mouhoun province, Burkina Faso. The project has a 25-year electricity purchase contract with Sonabel, the national electricity company of Burkina Faso. The project resulted from a partnership between Burkina Faso's government and Semafo, now Windiga Énergie Burkina. Amea Power acquired 90% of the project's capital and engaged Sinohydro for engineering and construction. The construction was financed by IFC, IFC-Canada Climate Change Program, and the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund. Burkina Faso aims to add 500 MW of renewable capacity by 2025.
