Amprion hits 4GW North Sea grid plan delay

German transmission system operator Amprion is facing delays in delivering offshore wind grid connections in the German North Sea. The 2GW BalWin1 and 2GW BalWin2 projects are now expected to be online in 2030 and 2031 respectively, missing the original deadlines set in the country's grid plan. Amprion's managing director, Carsten Lehmköster, cited tight market conditions as the reason for the delays and emphasized the need for additional market capacity to meet the expansion targets.
