Amprion hits 4GW North Sea grid plan delay

German transmission system operator Amprion is facing delays in meeting the delivery schedule for two offshore wind grid connections in the German North Sea. The 2GW BalWin1 and 2GW BalWin2 projects are now expected to be online in 2030 and 2031, respectively, as opposed to the initial timeline set by the country's grid plan. Despite efforts to accelerate construction, Amprion attributes the delays to tight market conditions, highlighting the need for additional capacity to achieve expansion targets.
