Auren, AES Brasil merger to create 8.8-GW renewables giant

Brazilian energy group Auren Energia SA is merging with AES Brasil Energia SA to create a platform with 8.8 GW of renewable energy assets. The AES Corporation will sell its equity interest in AES Brasil to Auren for about USD 640 million. AES Brasil shareholders can choose between receiving cash or Auren shares. AES is simplifying its portfolio and focusing on renewable energy supply.
