Aurubis Bulgaria breaks ground on 409 mln euro plant upgrade

German copper producer Aurubis has initiated expansion of its cathode copper refinery and the construction of solar photovoltaic parks at its Pirdop plant in Bulgaria. This is part of an 800 million levs investment aimed at increasing copper production and enhancing green energy capacity. The expansion will include the development of new PV plants and upgrading production processes to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
