Australia approves 800MW solar-plus-storage project in Queensland

The state of Queensland has published a roadmap for its 12 Renewable Energy Zones aiming to add 22GW of renewables by 2035. An 800MW solar-plus-storage project has been approved in Southern Queensland, featuring the Punchs Creek Solar Farm with a 250MW battery energy storage system. Toowoomba, part of South Queensland region, is expected to install between 1.8-2.4GW of renewables. Enel Green Power Australia and CleanCo Queensland are developing gigawatt-scale solar and wind projects in Queensland. The Australian government is holding a tender for 6GW of renewables capacity.
