Queensland-based Libra Energy is developing the Bremer Battery Project, an 850 MW, four-hour battery energy storage system near Ipswich. The project focuses on enhancing grid security and reliability by soaking up excess solar power. The company shelved plans for a solar farm to prioritize the battery project. With Queensland targeting high percentages of renewable energy, the battery aims to support the growing rooftop solar installations in the region. The Bremer battery, scheduled to commence operations in 2027, will connect to the National Electricity Market and integrate seamlessly into the energy grid.
