AGL Energy and Elecsome have signed a memorandum of understanding to create a solar module recycling plant in the Hunter Valley, NSW. The plant is expected to upcycle up to 500,000 solar panels annually. A solar cable manufacturing plant is also proposed at the same site, aiming to produce up to 20,000km of cable per year. The feasibility study will determine the requirements for both facilities' development. The Hunter Energy Hub plans to host solar panel recycling and solar cable manufacturing, aiming to bring renewable energy generation and firming capacity online by 2030.
