Australian energy storage tender attracts 19 GW of proposals

Australian Federal Energy Minister Chris Bowen describes the first large-scale auction for dispatchable capacity as part of Australia's new CIS as heavily oversubscribed, with 19,000 MW of projects bidding for just 600 MW available. The Victorian-South Australian tender, targeting projects operational by 2027, marks the start of a national bidding schedule aiming for 9 GW of dispatchable by 2030. Successful projects will receive a contract for difference from the Commonwealth.
