Australian grid operator backs community battery to boost network stability

Ausgrid has installed a 250 kW/535 kWh battery energy storage system in North Epping, Sydney, benefiting households without rooftop PV. The system helps absorb excess solar-generated electricity, supports power quality, voltage, more solar installations, home electrification, and electric vehicle charging. The system bridges the gap between renewable energy generation and usage, aiding system-wide benefits and increased energy system security. Ausgrid aims to deliver 1 GW to 2 GW of storage across its network for enhanced reliability.
