Australian miner energizes 96 MW offgrid wind-solar-storage plant

Liontown Resources has reached an 'incredible milestone' with the commissioning of the 95 MW hybrid power station at the Kathleen Valley mine in Western Australia. The station comprises solar capacity, wind turbines, and a battery energy storage system which will provide 60% renewable power for the mining operation. The project aims to operate with the lowest possible carbon footprint, powering the facility with renewable energy ahead of production. Kathleen Valley is expected to contribute to the lithium market for electric vehicles and battery storage solutions.
