Australian miner pushes ahead with 20 GWh pumped hydro project

Evolution Mining and ICA Partners are jointly developing the 2 GW/20 GWh Mount Rawdon Pumped Hydro Project in Queensland. The project aims to repurpose an existing pit at Mount Rawdon mine to create a pumped hydro facility. The facility would have the capacity to store 2 GW of energy and provide firming capacity in Queensland's transition to renewable energy. The project is expected to lower power prices and play a key role in replacing coal-fired power in the region.
