Australian polysilicon project shifts focus to silica feedstock

Australian Silica Quartz (ASQ) has launched an exploration drilling program at its Quartz Hill project site in Queensland, Australia to establish a metallurgical-grade silicon resource for Quinbrook's proposed AUD 7.8 billion polysilicon plant in Townsville. Quinbrook aims to use locally sourced silica quartz for solar panels and battery technology. ASQ and Quinbrook have a deal where ASQ will provide silicon quartz to Quinbrook, creating a polysilicon supply chain. The project is considered a prescribed project by the state government, aiming to boost solar and battery energy generation.
