A battery energy storage facility is recommended for approval on land near Foxcover Road in Sunderland by Newton Energi. The facility aims to store energy from renewables like wind and solar panels for release during high demand periods. Plans include around 28 battery storage containers and control rooms, with a 35-year lifespan. Despite opposition, battery storage plants are increasing in the UK.
