Battery energy storage facility backed

The city planners recommended the approval of a battery energy storage facility in Sunderland, which would store energy from renewables like wind and solar panels and release it during peak demand. The site, chosen for its proximity to Offerton substation, includes control rooms and storage units with 28 battery storage containers. The facility, if approved, will have a lifespan of 35 years.
