Blue Elephant advances 12-MWp solar project in Mallorca

German solar and wind farm operator Blue Elephant Energy GmbH has held an official ground-breaking ceremony for a 11.7-MWp solar project on the Balearic island of Mallorca, due to be switched on by September. The photovoltaic (PV) park’s construction was entrusted to Germany’s Goldbeck Solar GmbH. The solar park is being installed near the municipality of Binissalem and is expected to generate around 18,000 MWh of electricity annually. Blue Elephant acquired the Binissalem PV project from F&S solar concept GmbH and once it goes online, it will expand Blue Elephant’s Iberian portfolio to 262 MW. Miguel Velasco, head of PC Iberoamerica at Goldbeck Solar, mentioned that the project will help strengthen the region's energy independence.
