Bulgaria backed by EIB for 1.6 GW of pumped storage

The article discusses the EIB advising and supporting Bulgaria's national electricity company NEK on the construction of two large pumped storage hydropower plants named Batak and Dospat in Bulgaria. These plants will enhance Bulgaria's electricity supply, storage capacity, and grid flexibility, providing NEK with additional services. Each plant will cost around €900 million and are expected to be operational by 2032.
