California startup proposes 24/7 renewable PPA with 100-hour thermal energy storage system

Nucor is a US-based steel producer. Photon Vault Inc's proposal in response to an RFI from Microsoft, Google, and Nucor aimed to create a 185MW solar PV project with a 50MW/5,000MWh energy storage system in California. The proposal focused on innovative renewable technologies. Despite not progressing further in the RFI, Photon's CCO, John Langhus, shared details of their thermal energy storage technology which utilizes hybrid charging processes and patented heat storage methods.
