CATL and Gotion deny forced labour in supply chain after US lawmakers call for immediate blocking of shipments

CATL and Gotion High-Tech, two major manufacturers of lithium-ion batteries and BESS units, have been accused by US lawmakers of having supply chain connections to forced labor and Uyghur oppression in China. The companies deny the allegations but are facing calls to block shipments of their products into the US. The allegations come amidst a ratcheting up of protectionist measures by the US towards China in the clean energy technology space.
