CFD tests show wind resistance in vertical rooftop PV systems

Norwegian startup Over Easy reported the initial results of computational fluid dynamics simulations and wind tunnel tests on its vertical bifacial rooftop PV system. The system uses specially designed solar modules. Germany's I.F.I. Institut für Industrieaerodynamik GmbH supported Over Easy in measuring the wind resistance. CEO Trygve Mongstad mentioned the wind tunnel tests at I.F.I. Aachen and previous certifications by Fraunhofer ISE. The simulations indicated the system can function without ballast or fastening to the rooftop. Over Easy plans to collaborate with production partners in China and Spain for manufacturing solar modules.
