Chile boasts 3,962 MW of PV under construction

Chilean energy association Generadoras Chile presented its monthly bulletin for June, revealing that the National Electric System (SEN) has a total installed capacity of 33,580 MW, with 22,121 MW being renewable energy. Currently, 8,292 MW are under construction, predominantly renewable projects. Photovoltaic projects account for 47.8%, wind for 22.7%, and battery storage systems for 18.5% of the under-construction capacity. In terms of environmental assessment, 61% of the projects entering the Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA) are photovoltaic. Hydropower contributed 35% of the monthly electricity generation, with solar energy at 15%. Antofagasta, Atacama, and Tarapacá were the leading regions in terms of renewable electricity production in June.
