Chile's Ministry of Energy is running a public land bidding auction for 13GWh standalone energy storage projects across four regions. President Gabriel Boric's administration awarded 32 licenses for renewable projects adding 6.5GW capacity. Developers can directly apply for land allocation for storage projects, with existing projects adding energy storage to combat high solar curtailment. Utility Engie announced a 116MW/660MWh battery system in Antofagasta. Solar Media will host the Energy Storage Summit Latin America in Santiago, Chile in October 2024.
