CPH2 is launching an electrolyzer without membranes that competes with PEM electrolysis in efficiency and costs. The system mixes potable water with hydroxide ions to generate mixed hydrogen and oxygen gas, separates them through a cryogenic process. The new electrolyzer uses less energy at the stack than PEM electrolysis and is safer as there is less risk of ignition. CPH2 has installed test units and is planning to scale up production, collaborating with other companies for manufacturing and commercialization.
