Colbun energises first turbines at 816-MW Horizonte wind farm in Chile

Chilean utility Colbun SA has energized the first turbines at its 816-MW Horizonte wind farm in northern Chile. The Horizonte wind farm, situated in the Atacama Desert, will feature a total of 140 Enercon turbines. The project aims to generate 2,450 GWh of electricity annually and plans to expand by 180 MW. Colbun secured the site under a concession in a public tender organized by the Chilean ministry of national assets. The utility submitted an environmental impact assessment for the proposed expansion in March 2024. Renewables Now offers a newsletter for further updates.
