Colbun energises first turbines at 816-MW Horizonte wind farm in Chile

Chilean utility Colbun SA has energised the first turbines at its 816-MW Horizonte wind farm in northern Chile. Horizonte wind farm will feature a total of 140 Enercon turbines with the project being over 80% complete. At full capacity, the wind farm will be capable of generating 2,450 GWh of electricity annually. The project is situated in the Atacama Desert, secured under a concession by Colbun from the Chilean ministry of national assets. Colbun plans to expand the wind farm by 180 MW with 24 new turbines.
