Colbun plans up to 800-MW ocean-powered pumped-storage HPP in Chile

Chilean utility Colbun SA plans to build a pumped-storage hydropower plant in northern Chile utilizing the Pacific Ocean for water circulation. The Paposo project aims to store and release excess renewable energy by circulating desalinated water between reservoirs. The project includes a desalination plant, construction of reservoirs on a coastal cliff, and power generation infrastructure.
