Coutinho appointed UK shadow Energy Secretary

Claire Coutinho has been appointed to oversee energy and net zero in the Conservative Party's shadow cabinet by ex-PM Rishi Sunak. Sunak has appointed an interim shadow ministerial team ahead of the opposition party's leadership race. Coutinho will shadow Ed Miliband, who is the UK's new Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero. Ed Miliband replaced Coutinho after the Labour party's victory in the UK's general election. Miliband previously held the shadow energy brief since April 2020. Coutinho assumed the role of Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero on 31 August 2023.
