The UK government's Offshore Wind Leasing Round 5 has moved into its second phase, aimed at developing floating wind in the Celtic Sea off the coast of South Wales and South West England. The leasing process will lead to the creation of new floating wind farms in three Project Development Areas (PDAs) in the Celtic Sea. Bidders are encouraged to be ambitious in their proposals, including initiatives linked to skills development, apprenticeships, community impact, sustainable procurement, and nature restoration. The Crown Estate and Great British Energy have formed a partnership, offering opportunities for developers to deliver clean power by 2030, with over £1.5 billion offered through the next Contracts for Difference auction. There are huge opportunities along Wales' coast to deliver something transformative, focusing on social value and local supply chains.
