Cyprus and Greece have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of the Great Sea Interconnector, the longest submarine power transmission cable connecting Europe to the Middle East. The project aims to connect the electricity networks of Greece, Cyprus, and eventually Israel. European Union is willing to finance part of the costs. The project faces challenges due to geopolitical risks in the Mediterranean Sea.
