Detentions of forced labour-linked solar imports to US drop in June 2024

In June 2024, US$27 million worth of solar PV products were detained at the Port of Los Angeles. Detentions of electronics, including solar PV products, decreased following the implementation of the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA). John Foote of Kelley Drye & Warren LLP noted a decline in solar detentions in June 2024 compared to the past year. The article also highlights significant detentions of products from Malaysia and Vietnam, with China being a major producer of aluminium, a newly targeted sector for enforcement under the UFLPA.
