German renewables developer Solar Kapital tested a white membrane on bifacial solar modules at solar facilities in Greece, reporting an average increase in output of 6.4% over the year. With guaranteed feed-in tariffs, the payback period for the membrane is less than 2.5 years. Additional tests at another solar plant showed an increase in yield with a payback time of less than one year. However, factors like variable costs, geotextile degradation, and rocky ground impact installation costs and module yields over time.
