Drax to upgrade Cruachan hydro plant

Drax is investing £80m in upgrading the Cruachan pumped storage hydro power station in Scotland to increase its capacity from 440MW to 480MW. Andritz, a global hydropower technology supplier, is the main contractor. The project will enhance the operability and reliability of the station, extending its lifespan. This investment is aligned with Drax's commitment to enhancing the UK's energy infrastructure and supports sustainable energy generation.
