Dutch regulator warns of EMC issues, hacking risks for solar inverters

RDI published a report highlighting that most solar inverters in the Netherlands do not meet EMC requirements, posing risks of interference and hacking. The investigation revealed non-compliance from nine manufacturers, with concerns about cybersecurity standards and potential use in DDoS attacks. Malfunctions related to electromagnetic compatibility have increased, with 113 reports between 2020 and 2022. A similar investigation was done by the Swedish Electrical Safety Agency in 2021.
