Easter Island launches 3 MW/2 MWh solar-plus-storage tender

Chile-based SASIPA, the energy supplier for Easter Island, has launched a tender for a 2.99 MW solar plant connected to 2 MWh of energy storage. The project aims to reduce the island's dependence on diesel generators, currently covering 99% of electricity demand. The successful bidder will maintain the plant and storage for 24 months. Easter Island already has a 128 kW PV plant donated by Acciona.
