EC urges Bulgaria to speed up RRP implementation, shift to clean energy

The European Commission has recommended Bulgaria to speed up the implementation of cohesion policy programmes and the Recovery and Resilience Plan, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and accelerate clean energy transition. Bulgaria faces challenges in decarbonising the economy, energy production, sustainable transport, education, and skills. To address these, Bulgaria should focus on renewable energy, district heating, wind installations, energy storage, and strengthening the electricity grid with smart grid elements.
