EDF, KOWEPO, Masdar to develop 1.5 GW of solar in UAE

An international consortium led by EDF Renewables, KOWEPO, and Masdar has been selected by EWEC to develop the 1.5 GW Al Ajban solar project in the UAE. The project, located 70 km northeast of Abu Dhabi, aims to power 160,000 households and is expected to be operational by Q3 2026. EWEC has signed a PPA with the consortium, which will handle the design, finance, construction, and operation of the plant.
