Synergy, a state-owned energy retailer in Western Australia, selected SCEE Electrical for a AU$160 million project to install civil, electrical, and major equipment for the 500-MW/2,000 MWh Collie Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The project involves setting up around 640 battery container units, 160 inverters, and 220 km of high-voltage cables, with additional management of a laydown facility at the Port of Bunbury. The BESS, currently under construction, is expected to significantly bolster the state's power grid resilience and aligns with Synergy's aim to add 3 GWh of energy storage by 2025.
