Sonnen, a Germany-based energy storage system provider, along with contractor ES Solar, has sold 18MWh of energy storage systems in Utah, US, through the 'Go Back' programme. This programme, facilitated by Rocky Mountain Power (RMP), allows Utah homeowners with existing solar PV setups to incorporate smart sonnen batteries for optimizing solar energy utilization and grid integration. Wattsmart, a VPP aggregation initiative by RMP, leverages energy stored at customer locations, aiding the energy supplier in managing its grid network effectively. ES Solar sees potential in expanding its VPP-focused business model to markets like California, where smart grid interactive batteries and the Net Billing Tariff can enhance grid stability and support sustainable infrastructure.
