ESS to provide 1-MW/8-MWh storage system in Nigeria

ESS Tech Inc, a US-based manufacturer, announced its first project in Africa by providing 1 MW/8 MWh of long-duration energy storage systems to Nigerian energy company Sapele Power Plc, with partial financing from the US Export-Import Bank. This marks the largest US-government financed battery storage system export to Africa. Further, ESS has completed the installation of a similar system at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to help replace diesel units and promote clean energy in airport operations.
