European Union adopts Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation

The Council of the EU has adopted a new ecodesign regulation to make products more durable, reliable, and eco-friendly, covering almost all types of products except cars and defense items. The regulation includes digital product passports, prohibiting unfounded durability claims, and bans the destruction of unsold textiles. Additionally, it introduces obligations on product durability, reusability, recyclability, and limits the content of substances inhibiting circularity and energy efficiency.
