The UK Planning Inspectorate has closed the examination phase of Island Green Power’s proposal to build a 480-MW solar photovoltaic complex with energy storage in the East Midlands of England. Island Green Power has proposed to install PV arrays over three sites within West Lindsey District near the Nottingham-Lincolnshire border. The plants will be hooked to a substation at the decommissioned West Burton power station in Nottinghamshire. Once in operation, they are expected to have an output that will be enough to supply 144,000 homes, replacing around 24% of the generation capacity of the former coal-fired West Burton Power Station.
