Two major Dutch research institutes, CE Delft and the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO), conducted a study on the impact of scrapping the country’s net metering scheme. The study suggests that increasing self-consumption rates can maintain financial returns for PV system owners even without selling excess power to the grid. Various organizations and associations in the Netherlands are involved in proposing alternatives and solutions to address potential challenges in the renewable energy sector.
